less is more

Anyone else on complete inspiration overload? Between all the blogs I follow, instagram, facebook, pinterest, twitter etc... I am on overload. One of my biggest goals for this year is to learn to live more simply. It's hard to do this when every where I go I am hit in the face with some new trend (and I'm a sucker for trends!), DIY project, paint color I want to paint my house, outfit I want to buy, etc etc etc This is not helping me one bit! To balance, none of these things are bad in themselves but sometimes I find myself defining my value and life around what I have or what I've done and not who I am or striving to be.

This is when I know it's time to step back and re-evaluate myself. Now that we have Kynlee my days at home with her are very important to me. I take my time with her very seriously and strive to make the most of it. I am sometimes overwhelmed on my days at home because I look around and see all the things I want to get done in my house, projects I want to work on (thank you pinterest) and what not but never find time to do. Or make time to do I should say. But I have to step back and make a conscious decision to spend my time with Kynlee- whether it's playing with her, singing to her, loving on her- whatever I have to do. I want her to know that she is what's important in life, not the things I get done around the house (outside of general upkeep- I can not breathe in a messy space so cleaning my house daily is a must!)

I'm going to challenge myself to live more simply and to learn to be more content with what I already have. I feel it will leave me a much more free and peaceful person.

So here's to my newest motto for 2012:

Anyone else want to join me on this venture?

  1. Hey, Jen, you might like this blog that my friend writes. It's all about living your life with intention and the whole "less is more" philosophy:

  2. Totally hear you! That's why I decided to do the bare minimum in the playroom rather than totally re-painting and doing all of the other things I originally thought we would do. Let's do it!!

  3. Exactly why I haven't joined pinterest. Plenty of things overwhelm me daily, I don't need to add to it!!
It's the best and the worst part of the www! Be inspired and completely overwhelmed in the same 30sec on one Internet page.
